Many people are hungry around 3 or 4 o’clock, which is often referred to as the “3 o’clock slump.” For many of us, the most common remedy is to grab a cup of “Joe” or a quick sugar fix like a candy bar.

Unfortunately, while the coffee will wire you for a while and the sugar will give you a quick shot of energy … you will most probably find yourself crashing in a short amount of time.

Your best bet for curbing those hunger pangs is to consume some protein for lasting energy.

With that in mind, here is one of my favorite late afternoon treats:

These Hummus Eggs are easy to make and will fill you up while giving you the energy you need to power you through until dinner time. Hummus is high in fiber to make you feel full while keeping your blood sugar levels from rising too quickly.

The chickpeas in hummus contain iron and manganese which keep our energy levels up and our blood healthy. Chickpeas are also considered a complete protein and a healthy source of carbohydrates.

The olive oil in most forms of hummus is a wonderful source of healthy fats. So-called healthy fats are vital because they help keep our hair, skin and nails healthy – not to mention being great for weight loss!

Tahini is also high in protein and is a great source of calcium. Research has shown that garlic is useful for preventing colds as well as fighting infection generally.

I hope you enjoy these healthy Hummus Eggs, and please stay tuned for more diet and weight loss tips in the coming days and weeks!
